How he got started

"I was always interested in radio. From the age of 12, I pretended to be on the radio and would use a computer mic to record some liners I had heard on a local radio station.

I remember spending hours playing music on the computer and editing in my liners to hear how it sounded. When I was 17, I interned at a radio station to get experience. I loved the production room!

I would play around with soundfx and write liners, and one day played them for the Program Director. Within a year, I was made full time production director and doing the 7pm-midnight air shift. About 2 years later I was promoted to Program Director.

I enjoyed programming but really missed the production part of radio. I especially loved voice over. So I began building a home studio and sent out demos to what seemed to be every radio station in America. I received a lot of rejection, but I was blessed to land 2 or 3 radio station contracts that year, one of which was WXTM-FM in Cleveland.

I thought instead of working for one local radio station, I want to be able to work from home for many stations. So after 6+ total years with that station, I left radio and started McCoy Productions to do voice over and production.

What started as just radio imaging, turned into so much more opportunity - such as phone IVR, Trailers, Commercials, Audiobooks, and Narrations.

Education and Training

My training really comes from hands on experience. I often ask advice from some of the top voice over talents in the country like Joe Cipriano, Jude Corbett, Sean Caldwell and others who are extremely willing to help.
